What side effects did you experience while on this medication?

Hi, I'm kathy

Nexavar for treatment of primary HCC This drug is a bear. It caused me to have a rash within the first week of taking it. Head to toe. Was given doxycyline to help control it. The biggest problem with nexavar is the skin reactions( hand /foot syndrome) You need lots and lots of good lotion. The Nexavar hotline is great help as well. They had me bathe in dandruff shampoo to help control the rash. The next big thing is the mouth sores. You can maybe get your onc. to prescibe you some magic mouthwash but it is pretty nasty almost as bad as the mouth sores. I have tried salt water gargles as well as flat club soda. That works ok but isnt very plesant either. Best bet keep welll hydarated and suck on hard candy if you can. Fatigue, diarrhea and hair loss seem to be part of any chemo treatment so nothing really new to add to this. I found that finding a good place for a pedicure helps with the calluses. Make sure you tell them you are chemo so they dont “dig” to deep you wont heal. I think that it is very hard to say on the max dose of the drug which is 2 2 x a day or 800 mg total. So dont get discouraged if your onc. changes your dosing around ALOT Hope this is helpful to someone
